A serious motorcycle accident in Winslow Township NJ resulted in significant injuries to two people, but both accident victims were expected to survive.
The motorcycle-car collision went down around 2:20 p.m. on Route 73, near Toms Well Road, in Winslow, New Jersey. The driver of a motor vehicle, a 74-year-old man from Sicklerville NJ, was headed south on Route 73 and came to a stop as he attempted to turn left onto Toms Well Road. While the car was stopped, a motorcyclist and his passenger crashed into the stopped vehicle.
The collision with the car caused the motorcycle riders to be thrown from the bike. They reportedly landed 300 feet from the bike and hit the pavement hard.
Several other motorists witnessed the accident and immediately dialed 911 to alert local law enforcement. The Winslow Police Department dispatched cops to the area. When Winslow NJ police officers arrived at the scene of the auto accident, they came across the injured motorcyclists.
Emergency medical responders briefly treated the accident victims and then rushed them via helicopter to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey. The person who was operating the motorcycle at the time of the catastrophic collision is 52-year-old Richard Billups, who lives in Ewing, NJ. The person riding on the back of the motorcycle when it was involved in the accident is a 41-year-old woman, who is also from Ewing, New Jersey. Both motorcycle accident victims suffered severe injuries as a result of the collision. Thankfully, the injured motorcyclists are expected to make a full recovery, according to officials.
Meanwhile, the driver of the car reportedly sustained only minor injuries in the crash.
